If you can remember Green Shield Stamps, then I am sorry, but you are probably as old as I am! In the 60s and 70s, people would flock to the service station to buy petrol where they got given the most "Green Shield Stamps".

Tescos founder, Jack Cohen, waded in with these incentives in the 60s, and became the first store to offer them as an inducement to grab customer loyalty.

Nowadays of course, much less costly and non time consuming (can you remember or imagine sticking pages and pages of green shield stamps, then finding the nearest Green Shield Stamp store - now known as Argos by the way!)

Customer loyalty these days consists of Store Loyalty cards, so from Tescos you get points for every pound spent, that means every month you get sent vouchers to spend in any Tesco Store.

Other supermarket giants, like Sainsbury's, offer the "Nectar Card", where every time you spend in that shop, you get "Nectar Points" , that , unlike the Tesco card, you can use in many different types of store. There are so many e-zines zipping across the Internet that one has lost count. However, do not let that discourage you, because if you have smartly planned the content, format and delivery of your e-zine, then all you need to do is to give it a little push by promoting it, and this is how you go about it:

1. The first step is to write a short yet powerful descriptor for your e-zine. This descriptor has to be so enticing and exciting that one must feel like signing up once he goes through the descriptor.

2. Once you are ready with the formatted content, opt-in lists, database and the descriptor, it's time for action. Firstly, you musts tart submitting your e-zine on e-zine directories. Popular e-zine directories are Ezine Seek, Ezine-News and List Net. There are more - just search for them on Google.

3. Next, announce your e-zine to the world. Get a press release written and submit it on press release websites such as PRWeb.com.

Simply put, viral marketing is a method anyone can use to naturally spread the word about their product or web site. It is very easy to do using viral ebooks so you can quickly become your own viral salesperson.

It simply boils down to writing your own ebooks and then giving the reader an excuse or incentive to give your ebooks away or resell them. Word then spreads like a virus, hence the term viral marketing. You do not need any special skills or expensive software in particular either. Nor do your ebooks have to rival War and Peace in page count.

If you have the desire to write a short report on a topic you have an interest in of say ten pages in length then you are on your way to becoming your own viral salesperson. A great thing here is that you can create your viral ebooks or short reports using totally free software. Download a copy of Open Office. This is a suite of tools very much like Microsoft Office other than Open Office is gratis.

Simply write your ebook using Open Office writer and then save it automatically as a pdf file. Insert a few links to topic related products you wish to sell on an affiliate basis and make your ebooks truly viral by allowing the reader or buyer to insert some of their own affiliate links in place of yours.
